IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED

All documents must be officially issued by the competent authorities, in accordance with the legal system of the country where the qualification was awarde.

As a general rule, foreign academic documents must be legalised through diplomatic channels or, where applicable, by means of the Hague Convention apostille.

Legalisation is not required for documents issued by member States of the European Union or signatories to the Agreements on the European Economic Area, provided that there are no doubts as to their authenticity and legitimacy, or as to their official nature.

How to legalise documents:

a) Hague Convention countries :

Only the Hague Apostille is required, that is obtained from the competent authority of the country of origin.

There is no need for diplomatic legalization.

b) Countries without an Agreement (diplomatic channel):

Documents must be legalised through the following steps:

1. Legalization at the Ministry of Education of the country where the degree was awarded.

2. Legalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country.

3. Legalisation at the Spanish Consulate or Embassy in the country of origin.

If the documents are issued in a language other than Spanish, Catalan or English, they must be accompanied by an official translation into one of these languages.

Official translation may be carried out by:

- A Spanish diplomatic or consular representation abroad.

- The diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the applicant’s country of nationality, or of the country where the document was issued.

- A sworn translators authorised or registered in Spain.

- All documents submitted for access and admission may initially be scanned copies of the originals. However, original documents or certified copies must be presented at the time of PhD enrolment.

- If, at the time of application, the required legalisation or Hague Apostille has not yet been provided, the admission decision may be issued as Conditional Admission, pending submission of the required documentation.

- For studies completed at the University of Lleida (UdL), it is only necessary to submit the official academic transcript containing the relevant information.
