1. What is the Training Plan?

It is the forecast of the training activities that will be carried out by the doctoral students. The development of these activities must guarantee the acquisition by the research staff in training of the following basic skills:

1. Systematic understanding of a field of study and mastery of research skills and methods related to the field

2. Ability to conceive, design or create, implement and adopt a substantial process of research or creation .

3. Ability to contribute to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge through original research.

4. Ability to carry out a critical analysis and evaluation and synthesis of new ideas

5. Ability to communicate with the academic and scientific community and with society in general regarding their areas of knowledge in the modes and languages commonly used in their scientific community.

6. Ability to promote , in academic and professional contexts, scientific, technological, social, artistic or cultural progress within a society based on knowledge.

For the achievement of all these skills, the Doctoral Programmes of the UdL, offer transversal training and specific training.

2. Is there a model for drawing up the Training Plan?

Within Research Plan , section 8. details the information required for planning the Training Activities. Check this link for the training activities established by each Doctoral Programme, and the value of each activity in hours.

3. What kind of training activities can I do?

The training activities are of a transversal type or of a specific type. While transversal training is common to all Doctoral Programmes , specific training is specific to each field of study and is designed according to the needs of each Doctoral Programme. Each Academic Committee establishes specific criteria for the training activities that its Doctoral Programme requires of doctoral students. This information is available on the website and in the virtual campus space of each doctoral Programme.

Five types of framework activities are foreseen and it is recommended that each doctoral student complete a minimum of 100 hours and a minimum of two types of activities .
